You need to copy the Olimex driver package into the same dir as gdbproxy. You can get this drivers from http://www.olimex.com/dev/msp-jtag-iso.html There is a readme contained in the package.
I use the following command: msp430-gdbproxy --port=3333 msp430 TIUSB (you omit --port=3333 because it's default.) I'm working with the msp-jtag-iso. It works great.
