Hi Aaron,

after using a MSP430F169, mspgcc, jtag and gdb under Linux for some years
without any problems we decided to use a MSP430F2618.

But we had only problems:
- jtag-tool like msp430-jtag is not working
- msp430-gdbproxy is only working under windows
- mspgcc was only patchable under Linux
--> 2 computers needed, one for development under Linux, one for communication
with MSP430 under Windows.

If you are not using some of the newest parts of the MSP430 then
Linux/mspgcc/jtag etc.
is a perfect solution, but with the new parts it's difficult.

Regards,
  Robert
