it worked well. i saw no reason to do an update. but it's also OK to use the latest stable version now.
Sergey, thank you for your efforts. most things look well, however there is one issue.
i've applied your patches and compiled a medium sized application. that does not work correctly anymore. it still starts up, end receives IR signals, sends characters over USART but the reception or LCD write code is now broken. compiling with the old binutils/gcc version and it works again. the code issues no warnings with -Wall.
i don't know yet where the problem is, the listing files have a lot of differences (addresses, because of init code)
