Hi Fireun;

This mailing list is still live as is the msp430 gcc project.

I've successfully done some work with the 2012 and 2013 chips. I believe that these are pretty well supported by the current msp430 compiler.

I've never used the cdk4msp project, in fact I didn't know it existed until your post. I'm using the command line based compiler from the http://mspgcc.sourceforge.net/ project. This does support the 201x processors as well as the USB based ez430 developer's kit. Setting up the USB interface can be a bit tricky (browse this mailing list for more info), but does work once set up.

Rgds,
Steve

Hey folks, not sure if this is a live list or not, but here goes...

Looking at the TI msp430x2012/2013 mcu dev from linux, managed to
piece together a setup to go from based on eclipse and sourceforge
cdk4msp build tools. Not confident it all works yet, but its a
process...

Anyhow, the cdk4msp stuff is fairly old as it goes, and the msp430
include dir does not have a 2000 series header file. What should I do
here?

While admittedly an atmel AVR fan, the 430 looks interesting; that is,
if I can find a workable build/debug environment for it... the AVR was
much simpler. (a more expensive solution, however)

Also, should I be looking at buying a JTAG debug widget, or will the
bytwowire stuff work, reasonably?

cheers,
