I suffer the same problems. I work around them in awful ways - set
breakpoints for single stepping, manually examine the stack to perform a
backtrace (which takes a long time as you can imagine - I just look for
values which look like addresses and then look for them in my code
listing. My stack is rarely that deep when I need a BT though).

I believe somebody may have fixed these issues in just a few months ago.
I haven't been motivated to try it out - please let me know if it is
workable.
