Not really an answer, mostly just echoing your question. As far as I can
tell, there's currently:

- mspgcc 3's MSP430X branch, which supports the extended memory but
doesn't actually work*

- mspgcc4, which works, supports all the new devices, but not the
extended memory/instructions

So yeah. Also, the fact that there's been no replies is a bit
worrying... Has there been any activity merging the X branch into
mspgcc4?
