Well, if this condition is neglected while following this rule, it is because the rule is ambiguous. 'then do it fast' can be interpreted as 'then do it once more, but this time fast' instead of 'then make the right one faster' Or, as I read recently: A programmers wife ordered her husband: "go to the supermarket and bring me a loaf of bread. And if they have eggs, bring me six!" The programmer went to the supermarket returned with six loaves of bread. His wife: "Why did you bring six loaves of bread?" His response: "they had eggs".
