Unfortunately, very few people filter their email and threaded email only started to gain public exposure with gmail. If you are not doing both, you really ought to figure that out. It is my experience that web forums tend to be populated more by people who cannot figure out how to manage basic email usage and mailing lists to be populated by people who can.
