In preparation for the 20-bit support I'm starting to work binutils. First
on the list is removal of relaxations and
polymorphs<http://www.mail-archive.com/mspgcc-users@lists.sourceforge.net/msg10641.html>,
as nobody spoke in favor of retaining them, followed by validation of
whatever's left and design of any additions required for far-memory support.

There have been several binutils-related issues reported to me personally
that don't have tickets backing them up, and there was some discussion
recently about whether users were going to coordinate to request a feature
to help with some tricky binutils stuff (application-specific sections, as
I recall). Just a reminder that nothing gets worked without a ticket, and
though I create tickets for all the stuff I personally discover and think
is important, if somebody else discovers it I only do this step for you if
I really think it's important.

If there are any features or capabilities that you'd like to have addressed
in MSP430 support in binutils, please create an artifact with the relevant
details on the project
tracker<https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_id=42303&atid=432701>
.

The ramp-up time for binutils and gdb is such that I am far more likely to
work issues if they're ready for me when I'm ready for them. Which is now.

Thanks.

Peter
