I noticed the instructions were for 2008 do they work for 2012 as well?

Have you tried the steps here to verify report service status and report server 
mode? (which should be set to native)

also, if you are getting a red x when you click Verify to verify the connection 
it normally gives a reason when you hover over it.

I have SCCM 2012 SP1 with Windows 2012 and SQL2012 SP1.
I am trying to turn on Reporting services Point and it doesn't find a reporting 
services server Instance.
I can bring up the Reporting Point Configuration tool on the server and it 
shows installed I can launch reporting services website.
Does anyone have any ideas at what to look at next?
