I would also recommend turning them on out of the box and updating their 
firmware to the latest release then pxe boot using the surface pro usb to 
ethernet adapter. By far the easiest and cleanest way to pxe boot a surface pro.

I beleive their is a powershell script that even injects the firmware package. 
Dont have the location at hand however I think a quick search would find it.
