Subject: [mssms] CM 2007 - SQL Reporting Point - Re-use Server for both Central
and Regional sites

Currently we have CM 2007 deployed, with SQL running on SQL 2008 R2

Our Central site is configured to use Server1 as its SQL Reporting Point. When
we set up our Regional child site to use Server1 for its SQL Reporting Point,
things got ugly and the child site complained about the same Site Server
(Server1) being re-used.

It was set up to use the same Reporting DB, and site, could this be the cause
of the issue? [SteveT] Yes, this is a lot like trying to use the same server
as a Management Point for two different sites. This won't end well :)
If it was set it up to use its own Reporting DB, and URL on Server1, would it
co-exist without causing any SCCM issues?[SteveT] I'm not entirely sure which
server it is... SCCM 2007 likes to use the default instance for SSRS. So, have
the Central site use Server1 and install SSRS for the regional site on whatever
server is running SQL for that site. The overhead for SSRS is really quite
minimal.

Thanks
Andrew
