I'm just looking for a quick sanity check on something. In a CM07 to CM12
migration, one of the biggest benefits of using Shared Distribution Points and
subsequently migrating them to full CM12 DPs is that the content simply gets
copied form the CM07 package share to the CM12 single instance source content
library on the same server. This alleviates the need to copy all that content
down from the primary across the network.

When it comes to Software Updates, the migration process converts Update Lists
to Software Update Groups, Software Update Packages to the equivalent, and so
on.

So...I have a scenario in which I'd like to avoid the need to copy down several
GB of Software Updates to remote DPs...BUT, I'd also like to "start fresh" with
my SUG's and Deployments. If I migrate the Software Update Packages from CM07
to CM12 and subsequently migrate the DPs, it will copy all of those Software
Updates to the single instance content library. If I then create brand new
SUG's that include the updates that were part of those migrated Packages, the
updates will already be on the DP and I would only need to copy down any
additional updates, correct?

Again, just making sure I'm thinking this all the way through and not missing
anything. Any feedback is welcome!

Thanks,
Phil
