Back in the day (10+ years ago haha!), as a server admin, each server I
worked on had a runbook, everything done to it was written down, we moved
from paper to TXT file. Nowadays we load these boxes up with change\control
requests at best, but the notion of a runbook, what's changed, is absent
from most environments I visit nowadays.

We make customisations and forget about them, I mean very exotic changes
such as this custom registry change affecting operating system behaviour at
a fundamental level, then we slap a big enterprise product on and
something's busted.

This is why I always recommend having a sand-pit with default builds, not
your corporate build, zero group policy, nothing, out of the box
bog-standard vanilla builds to do testing on, this discounts "Environment"
and often short-circuits the whole troubleshooting process, or elimination
of steps\tests. See a problem in production, if it's persisting take it into
the vanilla lab and repro there to confirm it is not an environmental issue.

Not very helpful to your situation Mario, but thought I'd call it out for
others to ponder.

Robert

Not that I like it.

Total side question: what lead you/your organization to deploy that hotfix?

Niall,

Found the problem:

 <http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2264107/en-us>
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2264107/en-us was implemented and when
changing this setting all is working.

Hello all,

I have done the upgrade of SCCM 2012 SP1 with CU3.

On the server side all went well but I have problems distributing the patch
to my clients.

I deployed the package that was created by the installer and on my client
the installation starts.

But at some moment it juist stops, the last line in the
configmgr2012ac-sp1-kb2882125-x64.msp.LOG is

..

[8:33:15] Compiled 'C:\WINDOWS\CCM\PwrEvents.mof'

[8:33:15] Compiled 'C:\WINDOWS\CCM\BGBPolicy.mof'

And then nothing more.

Can anybody help me with this.

Mario
