A key question is whether there will be location coexistence of the merged
computers. Will computers from the two merged companies start to be in the
same buildings, on the same subnets? Or will the security (domain)
transition be done first?

Subject: [mssms] CM07 - 2 seperate Pimary sites, domain migration

Scenario:

Two companies merge and will be creating a new domain with the intent to
migrate all existing AD user and workstation computer objects from both
domains into the new merged domain - two way transitive trust relationships
will be established between all three domains. Once all business systems
have been integrated into the new domain, both legacy domains will be
decommissioned.

Question:

In the short term, can both legacy companies keep their existing CM07 sites
siloed, residing in the legacy domains while managing their own migrated
clients in the new domain?

Long term plan would be to migrate both CM07 sites into a single CM12 site
in the new merged domain.

If this is possible (supported?), what effort would be involved and what are
the concerns going forward?

The other options would be to;

a) install a CM07 Central Primary Site in the new domain and attach legacy
CM07 sites as child primary sites.

b) migrate CM07 to CM12 in legacy domains and then migrate both into single
CM12 site in new domain.

Thanks in advance.
