Found what I needed. Looks like you do have to use CoreInfo.

Subject: [mssms] Report/Query to determine support for CMPXCHG16b?

I assume it would have to be added to HINV first as a custom class, but has 
anyone put any reports or queries together around CPU supporting CMPXCHG16b 
(required for Windows 8.1 x64)? Everything I have found online says you have to 
run a 3rd party tool such as coreinfo or CPUID?
