Set permissions on the source folder so that the distribution fails 
immediately. It will make it go quicker.

Also look at your retry settings in Site Administration>Configure Site 
Components>Software Distribution. It will only stop once the dist. failures hit 
these thresholds. You can try turning these down from the default, I can't 
remember if the changes only take effect when distmgr is restarted but I have 
feeling they are instant. Someone will confirm that hopefully.

Betreff: [mssms] Stopping Content Distribution to a 2012 Distribution Point

Hello Everyone,
I have a rather large OSD image that is continually failing to distribute to a 
remote 2012 DP and is consuming considerable bandwidth.  At this point I would 
like to stop distribution to this DP and use the ExtractContent utility to load 
the content through other means.  I know from prior 2007 experience deleting 
the DP from the content in question is insufficient to stop the transmission.  
How can I force this job to cancel?
