Robert, that is correct. No logoff/logon is needed as the collection controls the deployment, not the AD group. The user being added to the AD group syncs at night and all our collections update at 7am. The user usually gets the app as soon as they login that day after 7am. If they were logged in overnight they would get the deployment as soon as user policy updated after 7am. Following up on what John said; in order for the users not to logoff/logon to get their app: Daniel, if you created a collection and put user rspinell into the collection no logon/logoff would be needed correct? You're collection logic is saying give me all users who are a member of contoso\winzip so the collection results show the list of 100 users in the group? John Marcum I'm assuming you just wanted to have a collection with the just the usergroup name (contoso\winzip) and that is why users need to logon/logoff? These are good responses; appreciate everyone's input. Thank you. We deploy to collection of users who are a member of an AD group for our App-V apps. It works well, but has a 1 day delay due to AD sync that runs nightly. Personally I have a handful of App-V apps that are deployed to me and they span across all my devices, it works pretty well. @JohnMarcum I would recommend users who are members of a group, this works well for us. Yes, but then I'd have 30+ users with device affinity to every computer at the front desk. Assuming they are logged in to each computer enough hours per week. In your example so long as at least one of the users has user device affinity to that computer deploying to the user would be fine. ________________________________ John Marcum Sr. Desktop Architect Bradley Arant Boult Cummings LLP ________________________________ From: listsad...@lists.myitforum.com<mailto:listsad...@lists.myitforum.com> [mailto:listsad...@lists.myitforum.com] On Behalf Of christopher.catl...@us.sogeti.com<mailto:christopher.catl...@us.sogeti.com> Sent: Tuesday, November 26, 2013 10:34 AM To: mssms@lists.myitforum.com<mailto:mssms@lists.myitforum.com> Subject: [mssms] RE: SCCM 2012 - Target to users (user centric) not machines. It depends. The different deployment templates serve different purposes. There will always be a need to be able to deploy to a machine, think of a hotel front desk (any machine that multiple users use for the same task.) I know MS push is to target to users and not machines anymore with SCCM 2012. How many people are actually doing that now? Are you targeting to users now instead of machines ? Thank you.
