For patching reader, just use the SCUP catalog.

If you start the EXE, it will extract it's MSI to a temp directory. We use
that MSI, plus a transform we created using the Reader/Acrobat Pro MST
authoring tool that is free from Adobe (on their downloads page with the other
Acrobat downloads). We then chain in the 04 and 05 MSP's to bring it up to the
latest patch level.

Daniel,

I just tend to use the executable installer and then use msiexec.exe /update to
apply the appropriate MSP(s).

Cheers,

Subject: [mssms] OT: Deploying Adobe Reader 11

Hi,

We're currently working on a Windows 7 deployment and I'm working on the
deployment of Adobe Reader 11. I plan on installing the 11.0 MSI in the
deployment task sequence and then updating it to the latest version using SCUP
updates. So for anyone else who's deployed Reader 11 is this the best way of
doing it?

I'm also confused why Adobe offer the installer as an exe and an MSI. Which is
the best to use taking into consideration I would like to use the Adobe
Customisation Wizard too.

Daniel.
