WSUS is only for Security related updates. Other hotfixes must either use SCUP
or be deployed as standard software distribution.

Thanks,

Subject: [mssms] WSUS hotfixes not appearing in SCCM 2012

I have imported 3 updates into WSUS to deploy with SCCM 2012. There is
2775511, 2732673, and 2729738. That first one is the 90 hotfix enterprise
rollup thing for Windows 7 and the other two are listed as required post
2775511 updates.

The first one imports into WSUS fine and on syncing with SCCM is now showing in
the Console under software updates. The other two imported into WSUS OK, but
have not appeared in SCCM. I think this is because 2775511 shows up as a type
"Update" while the other two show up as type "Hotfix." I don't see a way to
turn on "Hotfix" as a synched Classification in SUP Component properties.

I read something over on Technet forums about WSUS not supporting MSU type
updates and so SCCM can't support them either. This appears to be a common
belief as everywhere I looked was someone else parroting the same information.
This has to be false because the rollup 2775511 is an MSU style update and it
like the other two imports fine into WSUS from Windows Update. The problem is
that SCCM seems unable to accept the classification "Hotfix." It cannot be
because SCCM doesn't support MSU style updates - clearly it is able to deploy
2775511, just not the two marked as MSU. I think it is true that WSUS won't
take MSUs that are not in the Update Catalog, but if they come from the Update
Catalog, it seems that WSUS likes them fine.

Is there a change available to set "Hotfix" as a classification that will sync
from WSUS -> SCCM?

These were the first two Hotfixes I imported into WSUS, so maybe it just takes
time for that classification to show as an available synched type?
