You're right. AppSense strikes me as a solution looking for a problem with lots 
of configuration required. Projects I have seen the question really was how to 
justify AppSense over GPPs

You'll not find a solution that will second guess the files, folders and 
registry keys which you have to capture in order to grab these application 
settings.

The best that you can hope for is the the vendor of the add-on has already done 
this or there is a community setting for same.
