If the users are in the collection but don't have the software yet, its just a matter of user policy updating. This all depends on your client settings on how long it takes. We have ours set to 60 minutes, so most users get their user-based apps within 60 minutes of logging in. I will admit this is a bit flaky and sometimes takes longer.
Have you looked into doing UDA with your task sequence? It will install your apps on the fly while deploying your machine. http://blogs.technet.com/b/inside_osd/archive/2011/06/20/configuration-manager-2012-user-device-affinity-and-os-deployment.aspx Daniel Ratliff From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Dwayne Sent: Tuesday, February 04, 2014 10:45 AM To: [email protected] Subject: RE: [mssms] Some Application Content not showing up in Software Center After OSD WIN 7 Upgrade Rollout I've got a little more info regarding the collection query's, as I wasn't involved setting those up.. I'm told that it's based on UDA /Device . So its deployed to users, based off their AD group membership? --- YES If so, are the users already in the group when you deploy their machine? Example: SMS_R_User.UserGroupName= " Our Software User Group".. So would this explain our Dilemma? Should it be Hardware based query to expedite that the machine see's the App's in SC? Are you querying off software inventory or hardware inventory? There were some changes in 2012 where SINV is now a low priority process and all inventory actions run consecutive not parallel. In our environment SINV can take up to 4 days to finish, so hardware inventory populated shortly after. This causes any collections that are based off these inventories to not populate until the client reports back its full inventory. DP's are mostly 08 R2 with a few 03 R2's .. the Scenario is that we have a DP at every Branch location for our Bank. Problem we've seeing is that we schedule a upgrade after hour during the night, our TS and Imaging Process is working fine. Our WIM image has app's built in, but there are several apps that must be pulled down to the newly imaged machine one the Task Sequence is done. I understand that SCCM is NOT "REAL TIME".. But all of our content is present on the local DP at the branch.. We having issues that the rest of the apps are delivered before the Branch opens up the next morning.. It's very sporadic, sometimes all apps show up in Software Center and sometimes they don't. We've opened a case with Microsoft , but as of yet they've not been able to help , We're not seeing any Errors in any Logs we've been searching thru.. Our Microsoft Tech is telling us it is because SCCM is not Real time.. We get that, but, How to you upgrade and manage a Win7 Roll out when you've no idea when the apps will get pulled down from the Local DP? Surely someone else is /Has been involved in a XP -Win7 rollout as of lately.. Any Ideas or thoughts??
