True, but “determine local or remote” figures out using hardlinks first,
making it invalid when shadow was enabled. If that step would have figured
to use SMP it would make sense.

 

I would need to create the logic for that myself I guess.

Since hardlinks work with in-use files (in the majority of cases), using VSS
is not necessary.

CM12 R2/MDT, USMT 5.

I’ve only enabled the shadow copy checkbox and didn’t read anything about
this and then scanstate.log had that error.
