No, not really. It means that R2 is a new product that has most of the fixes 
included in it already that were fixed by the CUs for SP1 (not all though). 
When installing this new product, it will overwrite the binary files of the old 
product so it doesn’t matter whether you had CUs for the old product installed 
or not though.

You don't need the CUs for SP1, you can go straight from SP1 no CUs to R2. CU1, 
2, 3, and 4 do not apply to R2 however CU1 for R2 was just released.

SP1 -> R2 -> R2 CU1

When migrating from sp1 to sccm 2012 r2 all the cumulative updates are included 
as built-in in sccm2012 r2???? Or do need to separately install at sp1 level 
and the. Only I can upgrade to r2
