Nevermind, I should've google'd it first. There are others with this issue who allowed local launch and haven't had issues. However, if you have seen this before and know what could cause it, I'd be interested in your feedback.
From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Beardsley, James Sent: Friday, April 11, 2014 12:23 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [mssms] SMS Agent DCOM Help Hello all. I've been noticing that anything SQL related has been slow the past few days. For example, viewing All Software Updates in the console will take up to a 90 seconds to return the results as well as simple queries in SQL Mgmt Studio will take 15 seconds as opposed to 3-4 seconds like earlier in the week. So I started looking through the Event Viewer and came across this message (Event ID 10016) over and over. The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local Launch permission for the COM Server application with CLSID {1A9FFCE9-10C1-40BC-9815-B20C1DC2D156} and APPID {AD65A69D-3831-40D7-9629-9B0B50A93843} to the user NT AUTHORITY\LOCAL SERVICE SID (S-1-5-19) from address LocalHost (Using LRPC) running in the application container Unavailable SID (Unavailable). This security permission can be modified using the Component Services administrative tool. I matched up those SIDs to the SMS Agent Host. When I go into Component Services to modify the permissions as it suggests, the allow Local Launch permissions aren't just unchecked, they are actually denied. I assume that's not how it is supposed to be but I wanted to check with the community before I unchecked Deny and checked Allow. Is that safe?
