Thanks everybody for suggesting the PS toolkit - looks great! Will definitely be using it for my Java deployment.
So there's two scenarios I need to cater for: - New installations: The toolkit will handle this nicely as it can advise the user IE needs to be closed before continuing and actually prevent them opening it. - Upgrade installations: For users that have Java installed I'll need to maintain them at the latest version. Typically I'd SCUP it, but because the browser can't be open I don't know if using SCUP would be ideal. Maybe as Matt suggests I could have it run silently only when no user is logged on and use the toolkit to prevent user's running IE while the install is happening. Any other thoughts? Daniel.
