or try using a hidden task sequence (on demand) as i describe here (it's the I
do it and it works great)

CM12 in a Lab - How can I make multiple hidden task sequences available
on-demand in Configuration Manager 2012 R2 ?

Another possible solution, is to advertise your OSD deployment to the All
Systems Collection or a collection of your choice, but make the Task Sequence
available to Media and PXE only...

Don't pull an Emory ;)

I’m going to say, Spoofing MAC addresses in a production environment is not a
good idea.

For the full article just look at
http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/maikkoster/archive/2013/09/03/configmgr-2012-sp1-meets-tablets-the-case-of-the-unknown.aspx

As for this article, we found a different, yet fast solution to deploy tablets.
As for the request in the article to share this, I hereby send my findings.

First of all, my findings are based on a few different tablet like devices,
where the surface pro / or surface pro 2 were the most annoying devices as they
only have one usb-port.

I think that is a real design flaw of the device….

Anyway, luckily we deploy our tablets with a docking station ( Kensington
sd3000v ) where the usb2 ports are all usable ( usb 3 ports on the docking
station won’t work for deployment)

First we tried pxe deployment with a cheap startech.com usb to lan adapter,
which was unsuccessful due to the lack of pxe.
For the surface pro devices we needed the surface pro Ethernet adapter ( 10/100
mbit) so deployment wasn’t fast , and as described in the above article, only
one device can be deployed because the mac-address would be assigned to the
first computer.

The solution I came up with involved this cheap startechcom device, because I
found out, there is a utility which has a programmable rom, with the ability to
write a new mac-address ( takes about 20 seconds)

This combined with a network boot image on usb I can start the task sequence
and deploy our image
After the deployment, I change the mac-address of the adapter and deploy the
next device.

So far it seems to work.

With kind regards
