Usually 2 at any time, but I have had 5-10 and it’s been fine .. Maybe not the tool but other things like the RDP Protocol version?

There are really good for-pay options, but for the last week or so I've been using "Terminals" from CodePlex. http://terminals.codeplex.com/ This isn't a ringing endorsement of it--I've only used it for a week and still learning it's quirks (at least as they relate to my environment), but it might be worth a shot if rdcman 2.2 is annoying you to the breaking point (which I hit about 2 weeks ago).
