Our SCCM 2007 backups are failing.

The SiteDBServer folder is empty after it fails but during backup can see a
.mdf file but then it gets removed.

Any body have any ideas why it's failing?

The smsbkup.log indicates:

MS Site Backup was unable to back up file system object
\\?\GLOBALROOT\Device\HarddiskVolumeShadowCopy13\PROGRAM FILES
(X86)\MICROSOFT CONFIGURATION MANAGER\DATA to
d:\SMSBackup\NATBackup\SiteServer\SMSServer\data.

Possible cause: \\?\GLOBALROOT\Device\HarddiskVolumeShadowCopy13\PROGRAM
FILES (X86)\MICROSOFT CONFIGURATION MANAGER\DATA is not readable, or
d:\SMSBackup\NATBackup\SiteServer\SMSServer\data is not writable.

Solution: Adjust file attributes and/or permissions of
\\?\GLOBALROOT\Device\HarddiskVolumeShadowCopy13\PROGRAM FILES
(X86)\MICROSOFT CONFIGURATION MANAGER\DATA and/or
d:\SMSBackup\NATBackup\SiteServer\SMSServer\data.

Possible cause: The destination directory
d:\SMSBackup\NATBackup\SiteServer\SMSServer\data did not already exist, and
SMS Site Backup was unable to create it.

Solution: Verify that a regular file with the same name as
d:\SMSBackup\NATBackup\SiteServer\SMSServer\data or one of its parent
directories does not exist, or replace
d:\SMSBackup\NATBackup\SiteServer\SMSServer\data with an existing directory.

Possible cause: \\?\GLOBALROOT\Device\HarddiskVolumeShadowCopy13\PROGRAM
FILES (X86)\MICROSOFT CONFIGURATION MANAGER\DATA or
d:\SMSBackup\NATBackup\SiteServer\SMSServer\data are on remote computers
that SMS Site Backup does not have sufficient access rights to administer.

Solution: Verify that the Site System Connection accounts are properly
configured to allow SMS to administer the remote computer.

Possible cause: An application is using
d:\SMSBackup\NATBackup\SiteServer\SMSServer\data or some component of its
path (for example, Windows Explorer may be viewing
d:\SMSBackup\NATBackup\SiteServer\SMSServer\data's parent directory.)

Solution: Verify that d:\SMSBackup\NATBackup\SiteServer\SMSServer\data and
its parent directories are not in use by any application.

Possible cause: Source
\\?\GLOBALROOT\Device\HarddiskVolumeShadowCopy13\PROGRAM FILES
(X86)\MICROSOFT CONFIGURATION MANAGER\DATA being copied to
d:\SMSBackup\NATBackup\SiteServer\SMSServer\data may cause a recursive
operation
