We didn't upgrade in the Microsoft order. We did do SCOM before SCCM, but I don't think it really matters that much. My only thinking was if they assumed you went with 2012 R2 OS while upgrading as well. It makes sense if you include Server 2012 R2 upgrade on the order then. You do DPM first so you can back up the new OS servers, then VMM so you can start running Hyper-V 2012 R2.
