I am working towards moving our application deployments from Packages to
Applications and also leveraging the Software Centre / Application
Catalogue in SCCM 2012 R2 for self service use for our users - I have
everything working, I can install and uninstall applications as expected
from Software Centre and Application Catalogue and I am not having an
issue here... but I'm wondering about the detection of installed
applications.

I have software installed on a system, and then the same software deployed
to the user and when I open the Application Catalogue I see the software
available for me to install. Where the question comes in is, if I have a
detection set up for that software (say MSI product code or registry
entry) - should I not be seeing this software under the Installed Software
section of the Software Centre? The software was installed outside of
SCCM. I've run the Application Deployment Evaluation Cycle and the
App*.log file for the client show only detection for software I have
installed via Software Centre / Application Catalogue. I would have
assumed that during the evaluation cycle the products would be detected
and would be listed on the Installed Software tab of Software Centre
whether installed outside of SCCM or by the Software Centre / Application
Catalogue.

Am I missing something?

Thanks,
