Thanks for the advice. And if the clone has been running for ~2 days and the 
decision is made to abandon it and revert to the original, would you recommend 
the same process be carried out on the original or it should be ok?

I honestly wouldn't risk it. Stop ccmexec, delete smscfg.ini, run 
ccmdelcert.exe and then restart the service. Verify it gets a new guid, etc.

If I have a virtual server with a CM client installed and it’s cloned and the 
original shut down, is there any effect on the client if I decide to delete the 
original altogether and continue running with the clone from now on? I’m 
guessing the CM client will be fine but I just want to confirm.
