Just thinking about it again I made a mistake, sorry.

The date and time if wrong will bomb out (You will get a generic stop code 
error and arms will be thrown in the air) after you try and run the ts and it 
starts to verify everything. You are not getting this far so it's not this but 
non the less, this is good to keep in the back of your mind. I got a few more 
greys trying to figure this out in a critical time.

I've come across this a few times and it's only been two things that have 
caused it.

The date and time, at least for the surface pro's, needs to be accurate.

The nic drivers ( its probably this one if it's getting stuck at "preparing 
network connections") you might have to use older drivers and inject them. I 
had to do that with the asus Eeebox that we use as dp's.
