I had this problem and was able to solve it as follows: http://gerryhampsoncm.blogspot.ie/2013/07/failed-to-sync-update-error-microsoft.html
I never heard of anyone having the exact same problem that I had (I had a Windows 2012 Primary Site Server that I hadn’t been able to patch). I wasn't able to resolve with a definitive fix. I did notice it only related to older o/s - win xp/2k3 but also win 2k8. In this particular instance I did not require those O/S so I was able to deselect. I remember reading on Kent's blog somewhere that these errors would just disappear over time and I believe this is the case with my home lab. Would like to know also if someone has a definitive answer on how to resolve as none of the suggestions out there worked. Has anyone seen this before? Not finding much in my research online. Thanks, Brian
