The motherboard chipset would need to provide a battery charge status
indicator, and an API would need to be installed in Windows to be able to read
this.

There are chipset monitoring programs out there, but they are generally only as
good as what the BIOS/Chipset can provide.

Subject: [msmom] monitoring for failing CMOS batteries?

(Cross post to the SCOM and SCCM experts. :) )

Hi all,

We have some XP embedded devices left in the field that have failing CMOS
batteries. This causes a problem because it gets stuck on a warning screen
after reboot.

Have any of you figured out how to monitor for and alert on failing CMOS
batteries?

Thanks,

Morgan
