So I have a 2012 R2 CU2, all roles on physical hardware, single site server,
HTTPS only. I patch about 230 Windows Server 2008 R2 with a SUG that gets
created by ADR that just has 2008 R2 updates in it. 333 updates. I have one
host that fails to download any Windows updates. Datatransferservice.log has
the following in it: <siteserver> and <host> are fillers to protect the
innocent.

This error is a BITS error, which I find on
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa362823(v=vs.85).aspx and is:

BG_E_HTTP_ERROR_404 (0x80190194)
The requested URL does not exist on the server.

How can this client not find the URL when the other 229 hosts that update
against it do?

I've uninstalled, rebuilt WMI, reinstalled the client. Removed superfluous and
suspended BITS jobs. I've re-run the ADR and redistributed the update package.
 The client can download and install from the SUG/deployment for SCEP
definitions without issue. Updatesdeployment.log has the following regarding
the 2008R2 deployment:

<![LOG[Job error (0x87d00314) received for assignment
({e0b2ee02-b996-4537-9482-823566dced8d}) action]LOG]!><time="03:08:45.370+360"
date="12-02-2014" component="UpdatesDeploymentAgent" context="" type="3"
thread="3920" file="updatesassignment.cpp:2214">
<![LOG[Updates will not be made available]LOG]!>

Using the error lookup feature of cmtrace, 0x87d00314 resolves to "CI Version
Info timed out." But I can't find much more about that on the interwebs.

This log also has entries that says it's missing updates, so it knows it needs
them, but can't get them. And I can see it download and install the SCEP defs.
 The client is in a boundary and boundary group. It last successfully patched
in September, so it's missed October and November.

Anybody seen this before, or know how to fix it?
