There could be an issue with the drivers AFAIR

May work, not supported, may get issues. I guess that’s the MS statement

Save to use it for the source files though.

Subject: [mssms] Data deduplication & ConfigMgr content source folder

I have read from several places (such as this blog post
<http://blogs.technet.com/b/configmgrteam/archive/2014/02/18/configuration-manager-distribution-points-and-windows-server-2012-data-deduplication.aspx>
  from February) the official statement that the server 2012 Data Dedup
function is not supported for use with the configuration manager content source
folder. However, when going through some settings today on my configmgr
server, I noticed that I do have Dedup enabled on the drive that contains my
source folder, and the folder is not excluded from dedup. I'm not sure when
this got turned on, but it's likely been that way for several months at least.
I don't recall having ever experienced issues that led me to suspect problems
with the source folder.

Is anyone else using Dedup on their content source folder, successfully or
otherwise? Is this just one of those situations where it works, but is not
officially supported?

Steve
