No. Cloud DPs aren't just for IBCM. The proper statement here is if the customer wants IBCM, then yes, they need an Internet accessible MP. The DP type doesn't matter.
Cloud DPs simply provide content like any other DP without having hardware to do so. Thus, you are relying on the Internet instead of your WAN links (for internal scenarios) or Azure over your DMZ (for IBCM scenarios). It's simply a trade-off of where you want the content to come from and has zero impact on use or placement of an MP. Although technically not supported, you could place an Internet facing MP in Azure IAAS (assuming you have a VPN between your org and Azure stood up). I've seen someone say they've done this successfully. This in combination with a cloud DP would eliminate any need for DMZ infrastructure to support IBCM. It could get costly though. It's all about trade-offs. If clients get installed with SCCM client when they are built at the office but are never back in the office again, I would have to setup HTTPS internet facing MP and a cloud DP? Why not just setup up MP and DP on the internet, what does setting up a cloud DP get me? I also don't need Intune in this scenario since I have the full client installed on my laptops? Thanks
