Yup. I had copied the application author's exact settings, not even thinking 
about that. It's one of those days...

If any of your deployment types for this app have "Allow users to view and 
interact with the program installation" checked, the app will not be available 
for use in a TS.

Also (not sure on this one, though), if all of the deployment types have the 
Logon Requirement set to "Only when a user is logged on" that could also block 
it.

I have an application that will not appear in the list of available 
applications when I add a "install application" step to my TS. I deleted the 
application completely, built a new one and redistributed it, verified content, 
etc. It still will not show. What might cause this:?
