I have done two things to try to combat this:

1. Change the delay on the balloon notification in the taskbar:

a.       Credit to Kenny Buntinx for this;

2. Change the final notification to 2 hours, this isn’t the best option,
but it keeps our associates somewhat happy. (I assume you know how to do this,
if not let me know and I will be happy to provide details).

In the future, I would love to implement something like this to control ALL
restarts. Credit to Kent Agerlund and CoreTech for this shutdown tool:

Also, I found a couple of threads on connect, please vote them up so we can get
this fixed in a CU or future version.

Subject: [mssms] What do People do about Update Restart Notifications

I’m intrigued to know what people do about the restart notifications on the
users machines.

We are getting complaints because the users aren’t getting notifications of
restarts until the last 15min warning, which they can’t close.

We give the users 6 hours to restart the machine, but the problem is that the
notification of the restart appears for 5 seconds and then it disappears (ie
easy to miss). The green restart notification appears in the notification area
on the taskbar (Win7) but the user won’t see this unless they go looking for it.

So, how does everyone else deal with this? Am I missing something?
