I had a session at TechEd on using App-V and UE-V with Configuration Manager
that might be helpful if you’re looking for an overview:

OK, thanks.

Interesting point about the updates. I can see Adobe Reader becoming a real
overhead with App-V.

Hi

Like many things in IT all depends on the scenario where you are going to
deploy APP-V.
I’ve done a lot of App-V deployments and I think the technology is good but
still needs improvements. Also in a high percentage of the cases all depends
on the applications some applications work very well in APP-V others are a real
pain.

I don’t recommend APP-v for applications that have a lot of updates like
Acrobat reader otherwise you will be creating a new package every week.

I’ve seen APP-V working very well in school boards, computer labs, classrooms
where you have many different applications that need to be installed.

About the infrastructure if you have ConfigMgr use it, no need to create and
managed additional servers.

We are considering implementing App-V for app deployment, and I’m interested to
know people’s opinions on it as a solution.

Is it good/bad/ugly etc? What do people like/dislike about it, and what
problems does it bring/solve?

Do you use the full App-V infrastructure or rely or SCCM to deploy the App-V
packages?

Thanks

Matt
