The part I am scared about is that I've read that several Windows 7 policies have been removed from these templates. Not sure about exact ones - a list is hard to find. If you still have to manage Windows 7 clients and policies, then what is lost from importing (and overwriting) the policy templates that were included in Windows 7 and 8? This won't change your existing policies, but will make it difficult to create or edit existing policies if you had or want settings in those policies that were removed from the win 10 admin templates. Not sure how big a problem this is yet. Until then you can copy the files from C:\Windows\PolicyDefintions on a Windows 10 1607 client. But Adam's suggestion is good, compare first. And keep a backup of the old files, just in case. You can probably copy them to the Central Store but make sure you open up a few GPOs afterwards to see if they renamed any of the ADMX's. With 1511 there were many ADMXs that did the same thing, they were just renamed for 1511. You just have to find the older conflict and delete that ADMX and ADML and then you are good. I'd be curious if we have more of those this time....
