Guys,

Client I have been working with has been using the CCMcache for their own
custom tools for years. It seems that the 1702 client now has added
behavior that deletes files and folders from the CCMcache that are not put
there by ConfigMgr, at every reboot. They are willing to rewrite a lot of
custom code to get themselves moved away from CCMCache, but that is going
to take some time.

First ask, do we know if removing this content from CCMCache is
customizable behavior?

Second ask here is if we are aware of any true shortcomings to using the
1610 client with Creators update? So far it seems like imaging is fine,
etc.

This link says that CM 1702 is the supported version for Win10 1703, but it
doesn’t really get into the client details.
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sccm/core/plan-design/configs/support-for-windows-10

If they are on CM 1702, do we think using the 1610 client would be
supported, just with the caveats that the new client functions won’t
obviously work?

1. No Custom TS messages
2. No Express Update
3. No native O365 support
4. No “Close executable files at the deadline when they would block
application installation”
5. No new Conditional Access

Please and thank you,

Jay
