My reply was a bit late in the end, yes; but I fear the issue remains the
same, that a program cannot have such uncontrolled access to the system on
behalf of something else, it's just too dangerous for those who don't have
the same honourable intentions as you. The only thing I can think of that
might help is writing a Control Panel applet - that may just about manage to
gain special privileges.
