I have been asked to look into the feasibly of a time logging system.
Various workstations will need to connect to a windows (NT) server. How can
I detect a 'logon' or connection from a client to the server. Likewise I
will need to know about the disconnect too.

Have all the systems run an app at startup that sends a "I'm logged in at this time" message to the server. It can run in the background and will be notified to exit when the user logs out at which time it can send "I'm logging out" to the server.

Secondly, Is it possible to "force" a user to disconnect ( user logs on and
does not disconnect when leaving premises. after 18h00 server disconnects
them?)

Hmm. I wonder if putting a restriction that the user can only log in between certain hours (in the user manager for domains) would do the trick.
