Did you perhaps have more than one IE window open? If so,

No I checked that. The two processes that had it open were devenv.exe and explorer.exe. I had already killed explorer.exe and started it again but that didn't help for long. I can't reproduce it anymore so I guess we'll never know, but thanks for thinking along ;)
