Actually I already have the resource kit, unfortunately not installed on this server. But basically, Im screwed since I dont have the resource kit installed? I dont remember, does the resource kit require you to restart? I dont quite remember, the only memory I have was after another install(SourceSafe I believe) that left me with a box with only a "restart" button, since Im a tad suspicious about all MS installs ;) Thanks //Johan -----Original Message----- From: Ryan Malayter [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: den 24 oktober 2001 16:50 To: MSWinNT Discussions Subject: RE: Kill -9 for NT/2K? Nobody mentioned this, but kill.exe is a NT/2k resource kit utility, and not part of the standard install. Every good NT/2k administrator needs a copy of the Windows 2000 Server Resource Kit. Unfortunately it's pricey. Johan, you can find it at amazon.com for about $210 USD. Find out the PID of the process you want to kill. Go to a command prompt. Type AT 12:00 Kill PID. Substitute the 12:00 and PID with the information you want to put there. If it is 10:00 and you want to kill the process at 10:01 then type AT 10:01 Kill PID. -----Original Message----- From: Johan Sunnerstig [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Wednesday, October 24, 2001 9:04 AM To: MSWinNT Discussions Subject: Kill -9 for NT/2K? Hi. Im just wondering, is there any way to force kill a running process. What Im primarily interested is in how to kill processes that lock after you kill them, giving the error message "Access is denied" if you try to kill them again.
