Subject: NT over a WAN

Hi,

We have an NT network , with PDC centrally, and BDC's deployed remotely
connected back to the PDC over Cisco 801 ISDN routers .

The bills for these lines are pretty high , and on monitoring the call log
regular connections are being made 24 hours a day.

I am looking into ways to combat this , and have checked on Technet and
found articles on changing SAM replication times, browsing polling etc.
The question is, if I change domain replication times how long is it safe
to set the limit to ? If I configure the routers to not connect overnight
for example, how long is it safe to leave them disconnected ?

We run SQl servers at the remote sites too , and use exchange from the
central location.
The calls being made are many but very short so some form of replication
traffic seems likely.

Any other tips from anyone who may have experience of this sort of
scenario
would be much appreciated. As I said there are plenty of articles , but
none actually state precise limits etc to work too.

Many thanks

Kevin
