If you are using Kixstart for your login scripts, you have the power
already. Find the keys you want to verify, and you can use Kix to go into
the registry to see what values keys have... 

I used to do this with NAV updates. I would check in the registry for the
values of certain keys... If they weren't the latest, I would run the
update. If they were the latest, I skipped the update. That certainly took a
load off of my mind as far as making sure the defs were up to date.

Yes... I think it is long shot without doing some search of the registry. I
would just assume to stay out of registry. This stems from the desire to
apply http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/MS01-058.asp

I am moving toward installing a small batch file to point to a network share
that allow the user to apply this and any future such updates.

you also determine what the default browser is from a login script?
