I have the same problem but with nt server 4 sp6a. I noticed that this only happens to my server when I run a backup. I get the same errors in my event log as well and haven't seen anything else that can cause the problem. The things that I did so far that has not worked was reinstall sp6a and change the page file size. The reason why I changed the page file is cause this started happening right after I installed more memory. For our backup we use veritas backup exec 8.5 and I asked them what I can do to fix this and they told me to reinstall backup exec. I did this over the weekend but haven't tested it yet. Does your server also freeze when it goes off line or can you actually shut it down without pressing the button?

A browser election ensues and after this there are no further events that relate to the problem. What I have noticed is that the browse master contention always seems to be between the 2 BDC's. What I want to know is can I simply stop the computer browser service on one of the BDC's in that local subnet and this will take care of the issue, or is there more to it then that? I have looked into the event log errors on MS Knowledgebase but so far havent found any solutions that have been even remotely exciting. If anyone has similar issues and knows something that might help out in this situation, please let me know.
